ped 25 shots in the Kings home Antworten

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Houston has a LaMarcus Aldridge problem. The Trail Blazers All-Star forward has been dominating with more than 40 points in each of the opening two playoff games with the Rockets in Houston. Portland is up 2-0 as the series moves to Rip City on Friday night, giving the Rockets little time to figure out how to defend Aldridge. He opened the playoffs with a franchise post-season-best 46 points in the Blazers 122-120 overtime victory, then followed it up with 43 points in the 112-105 win on Wednesday night. Rockets coach Kevin McHale summed it up best when he said: "So far, hes had a hell of a series." Aldridge found success in the paint in the opener so the Rockets adjusted -- but so did Aldridge, who went outside to pepper Houston with midrange jumpers. Thirteen of his 18 field goals came from 10 feet out or more. "Hes making tough shots, hes getting to the foul line. Hes offensive rebounding. Hes doing the whole package and its tough for us," said Houston guard James Harden. "We gotta figure something out real soon. In game three, it is either we win or its over." Aldridge is the first player to score 43 or more points in consecutive playoff games since Tracy McGrady in 2003, and the first to score at least 40 in back-to-back post-season games since LeBron James in 2009. It almost goes without saying that Aldridge is the first Blazer with at least 40 points in back-to-back playoff games. "You can tell just by his approach how hes really dialed in and hes playing big. Hes really taken it upon himself to do all these things," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said Thursday. "Give him all the credit. Hes been wanting this moment for a long time and hes rising to the challenge." Aldridge acknowledged the team for his success. "This team in general just believes in me so much and they ride the wave so well," he said. "When Im going one through 15, they are all cheering and telling me to shoot it. If I pass up a shot, theyre all mad at me and I think having 15 guys having your back like that is great." Aldridges play has put Portland in charge as the team returns home. The Blazers havent opened a playoff series 2-0 since 1977, when they got the early jump on the Lakers en route to the Western Conference title. Portland went on to beat Philadelphia for its lone NBA championship Portland ranked seventh in the league during the regular season with just 10 losses at home. Only three teams have come back to win after losing the first two games of a seven-game series at home: The last was the 2004-05 Mavericks, who came back against the Rockets. Houston is 0-7 overall when falling behind 0-2 in the first round since the 1983-84 expansion. Dwight Howard said its no time to panic. "Weve played against Portland in the regular season and we were successful. We just got to play basketball. We cant look back. We have to stay positive," he said. "They (Portland) won two games but its the first to four and we cant let our heads down. We dug a hole but we can always get out of it." Howard had 32 points and 14 rebounds in Wednesdays loss, while Harden had 18 points. Harden was the leagues top shooting guard in the regular season, but hes 14 of 47 from the field in the playoffs for his worst two-game stretch of the season. Part of that is due to Portlands Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum taking turns at shutting him down. "Weve done a good job guarding without fouling and one thing about playoff basketball is that everybody has the every possession mentality," Stotts said. "We didnt fall asleep on him and I dont think he got a lot of easy looks and every great player in this league, you just want to make them work and I think Nick and Wes in particular really have made him work." For his part, Harden isnt really concerned about a slump. Hes more focused on the Blazers -- and stopping Aldridge. "Im not worried about my offence, Im worried about our defence, our defence as a team. When we get stops and get out in transition everybody feels good about themselves and thats when the assists flow in and things start going well," he said. "If we cant get stops it makes it more difficult. They are a very good team." Patrick Robinson Saints Jersey .Y. - Peyton Manning made his fifth MVP award a family affair. Patrick Robinson Jersey . Chelsea ripped apart Hull inside 25 minutes at Stamford Bridge, with the early goals from Oscar and Frank Lampard securing a 2-0 victory. While Lampard had earlier missed a penalty, Roberto Soldado had no such trouble from the spot for Tottenham, scoring on his debut to clinch a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Jimmy Howard made 44 saves and Henrik Zetterberg scored two goals, leading the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.LOS ANGELES -- Henrik Lundqvist knows how Jonathan Quick felt after giving up an embarrassing, inexcusable goal. Lundqvist and the New York Rangers didnt let empathy get in the way of their excitement about their first victory of the season. Brad Richards scored two goals, Ryan McDonagh got credit for a short-handed goal on a comical mistake by Quick, and the Rangers beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Monday night for their first win under new coach Alain Vigneault. Quick stopped 25 shots in the Kings home opener, but the star goalie also misplayed McDonaghs harmless cleared puck from deep in the New York end early in the third period, knocking it into his own net. "I feel for him," said Lundqvist, who made 28 saves. "It happens sometimes, but well take it." Quicks first home game since his 10-year, $58 million contract extension kicked in featured maybe the most regrettable goal allowed by the Kings Conn Smythe Trophy winner. After Brian Boyle won a faceoff to Lundqvists left, McDonagh quickly cleared the puck off the far boards. Quick skated to his left to play it, but his stick slipped out of his hands as he knelt, and he reached for it while the puck glanced off his right pad and ricocheted straight into his net. "I didnt watch it go down (the ice)," McDonagh said. "I didnt know what happened at all. Still trying to get the full story. I was just kind of looking over at our bench, and guys started throwing their sticks up in the air." The Staples Center crowd howled in disbelief, and Quick hung his head. He didnt stay down for long -- and when the Los Angeles crowd gave him a Bronx cheer when he stopped the Rangers next dump-in shot, he waved his glove at the fans. "You play 60 minutes and you try to stop the puck for your teammates, thats the thought process," Quick said. "Everyone gives up that goal, and its part of the game." Rick Nash assisted on both of Richards goals for the Rangers (1-1), who are opening the season on a nine-game road trip. New York had three days off after losing the season opener at Phoenix. With Madison Square Garden getting extensive renovations, New York is on the road until Oct. 28, facing all three California clubs this week. Vigneault is using the time away as a test for the Rangers. "I really liked the way we responded after they scored," Vigneault said. "We came right back at them and we kept pushing the pacee.dddddddddddd Obviously, we got a little bit lucky on the third goal, but part of this game. You need a little bit of luck, and we got it there." Jake Muzzin scored for the Kings (1-2), who have scored just six goals this season after splitting the first two games in the upper Midwest. The sellout crowd didnt see much excitement from the Kings, who won their first Stanley Cup title and six playoff rounds in the past two seasons. Los Angeles reached the Western Conference finals last June before losing to eventual champion Chicago, raising expectations for this winter in a hockey town not familiar with consistent success. "Our five-on-five play needs to improve," right wing Justin Williams said. "Its non-existent right now. Certainly we need to get dirty. We need to become whole, put our work before skill, and get dirty and greasy, bang some in and rebound." Richards flirted with the Kings as a free agent two seasons ago before signing a nine-year, $58.5 million deal with the Rangers, but he stumbled to his worst pro season last season with just 11 goals in 46 games. New York considered buying out Richards contract, but brought him back this fall. Richards scored the games first goal in the first period after a scramble created by a turnover from Kings defenceman Drew Doughty. The Kings struggled to keep consistent possession, and Richards scored easily on a break with Nash after another turnover by Muzzin midway through the second period. Just 1:25 later, Los Angeles answered when Mike Richards got the puck to Muzzin in the slot for a nasty wrist shot. New Yorks Taylor Pyatt missed most of the first period after taking a puck to the face. Rangers captain Ryan Callahan, making his season debut after shoulder surgery, then went to the dressing room early in the second period after cutting his mouth in an open-ice collision with Anze Kopitar. Callahan skated up to check Kopitar with a shoulder to the Slovenian centres chest, but dropped flat to the ice when Kopitars stick caught him in the face after the hit. He eventually returned to the lineup. NOTES: The Rangers road trip is their longest to open a season, breaking the record set two years ago. It matches the longest road trip in franchise history back in the 1955-56 season. ... The Rangers made their first visit to Staples Center since Feb. 2, 2010. ...
